TITANIUM DR-01

TITANIUM DR-01

Titanium metal is considered one of the most expensive engineering metals which can be used commercially for high precision engineering component parts. Titanium is as strong as steel but much less dense, thus making it extremely lightweight comparing to all other metals in the same given metric volume.

Formula 1 race cars use a great deal of titanium because it is lightweight yet extremely strong, and resistant to corrosion. It is estimated at a cost of $15 million USD to produce 1 f1 race car, that is not including the hundreds of millions that go into research & development.

In MotoGP, the cost is estimated at a cost of $2 million USD to product 1 SuperBike, not including the cost of research & development that also goes into the hundreds of millions. On Honda’s MotoGP machine, the engines cost around $220,000 USD. Yes, EXPENSIVE materials, lots of titanium, aluminum, magnesium and compacted carbon fiber.  To keep the bikes light yet strong and durable to absorb shock and impact, from the engine to chassis to the fairings.

On Street Superbikes, production fairing is ABS (plastic), whereas MotoGP motorcycles use carbon fiber. The race machines also use carbon fiber-composite brake rotors as opposed to cast iron, which can often be found on street motorcycles.

Dwarf Racing® brings “F1 & Aerospace Technology” utilizing the best metals on earth available to mankind to be used on our street cars.

“TITANIUM DR-01”

Grade 5 solid titanium wheel bolt/nut, each individual set is baked to 500 – 600 degrees (932 F – 1112 F) for 30 minutes to give it the distinctive blue-purple color. The colors are permanent and not reversible. Each individual wheel lug/bolt is also laser engraved with Dwarf Racing®’s logo for authenticity.

Grade 5 is SIGNIFICANTLY STRONGER than commercially pure titanium (grades 1-4) while having the same stiffness and thermal properties. Among its many advantages, it is heat treatable. This grade is an excellent combination of STRENGTH, CORROSION RESISTIVITY, welding and fabricability.

Comes in a set of 20 pieces, with most common sizes available. Do contact us directly if the size you are searching for is not listed on our site. 12/14mm X 1.25/1.5mm (Thread Length 28mm)

Each “TITANIUM DR-01” weighs approximately 34-36 grams* as compared to most typical aftermarket or any OEM steel alloy bolts/nuts which weighs in excess of 80 gramsTITANIUM WILL NOT RUST, as compared to any steel alloy metals.

*Do note that there are many “titanium” lookalike metals which are color plated/coated to replicate the distinct looks of heat-treated titanium. To test, you can take any hard object to scratch it or to burn it.
